About The Inn...

Minutes away from Minneapolis and St. Paul and all the Twin Cities have to offer, Bluff Creek Inn offers you time and space to retreat from the world, relax and reconnect.

Built in 1860, our German farmhouse sits on an acre of land just off Highway 212 between Shakopee and Chaska in the Minnesota River Valley.  Surrounded by woods and farm fields there are no other buildings in sight.

One of the first and oldest B&B’s in Minnesota, the Inn has been highlighted in the Minneapolis Star Tribune as “most romantic getaway”.  Fifty-five of the Inn’s guests are repeat customers.

The land was deeded to Captain Luther Clark for service in the War of 1812, was signed by Abraham Lincoln and is framed and hanging on the wall outside the private residence.

Joseph Vogel purchased the land and married Veronica Kessler on July 15, 1854.  Theirs is the first recorded marriage of whites in Carver County.

The house was built in the shadow of the nearby bluffs.  It was constructed of Chaska bricks manufactured just down the road.

Bluff Creek Inn has been a bed and breakfast since 1983.

The Inn features three bedrooms in the house, furnished with period antiques and all with private baths.  Houseguests enjoy the parlor and the sun porch for relaxation and lounging.  Breakfast is served at 9:00 a.m. in the sun porch dining area.  Coffee and pastries are available ahead of time for early risers.

For those looking for a more secluded, private setting, consider the Hollyhock Cottage.  Located above the carriage house, the cottage features a king-size bed, a double Jacuzzi with a European-style showerhead, a gas fireplace and a private deck overlooking the woods.  We bring breakfast to you!

Weekdays we provide a hearty continental breakfast while on weekends we serve a bountiful three-course breakfast.

Whatever your get-away needs are, we provide the optimum relaxation experience.

About Us

Cindy works at a small private college in Minneapolis where she coordinates a scholarship and mentorship program for students of color.

Reading, gardening, cooking and scrap booking are some of her favorite pastimes.  She’s the “behind the scenes”, more introverted partner and responsible for breakfasts at the Inn.

Lindsay, the more extroverted, is an artist, photographer and graphic designer.  She makes her own jewelry and has an organic/natural gift basket business. Her products are available at the Bluff Creek Inn and in the near future, on her website www. Bellaterraboutique.com. Lindsay has worked in retail for 10 years, has a graphic design degree from Minneapolis Community and Technical College and is the designer of our brochure!

Jinx and Scooter are the cat members of our family and our enthusiastic welcoming committee!  At the sound of new voices they come running to greet the visitors.

Jinx, the elder and the larger of the two, is a Humane Society cat that we adopted as a kitty.  His delightful antics make us laugh.  His “trick” is to retrieve objects we throw for him and he’ll play this game for long periods of time.  He’s also easily startled and likes to hide out in the basement or under Lindsay’s bed.

Scooter, also a Humane Society adoptee, joined our family 18 months later primarily to provide companionship for Jinx who was showing signs of needing more than the attention his people could give him.

Scooter, still kitty-like, is the more curious one and has to check out everything!  He loves chewing on plastic bags and chasing bugs.

We all look forward to welcoming you to our lovely, comforting space and hope to see you soon!
