As newcomers to this area of the Cities we love the mix of quaint small town and sophisticated suburban settings.  If you drive around our area, up Bluff Creek Drive or Highway 101 you’ll find pockets of small farms nestled in between large multi-million dollar housing developments.

The communities of Chaska, Chanhassen, Shakopee and Eden Prairie surround us and Excelsior and Carver are close neighbors.

The Dakota Indians were the first inhabitants of our area.  Today the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community is nearby in Prior Lake.

The Minnesota River brought many of the first white “settlers”.  The railroad further opened the area to white settlement.  Aside from agriculture, the first industry in the area was brick making in Chaska in the 1800’s taking advantage of an abundance of high quality clay, the soil base in our locale.

The 20th century saw development of other industries including sugar beet processing, flour milling, butter processing and canning of locally grown vegetables.

Today the charming “old town” atmospheres of Chaska, Carver and Excelsior beckon visitors to relax and enjoy a slower pace while Eden Prairie, Chanhassen and the “new” Chaska provide visitors with the more “big town” shopping and cultural opportunities.
